Newly launched in 2023, this site is the result of both real-life experience in pet loss, as well as a career background that propelled me here. Professionally I have worked both as a veterinary technician and in the field of bereavement. Neither of those roles fully prepared me, however, for the brokenness that followed the death of Vincent, my cat and best pal for nearly twenty-years.
Despite thinking I had all the tools needed to face this, I found navigating this painful road terribly lonely. Not only did it feel like the ground beneath me was crumbling, it felt as if nobody truly understood the depths of my heartache.
This is a familiar story for many. The grief of pet loss often goes unvalidated. There are very few (if any) cards, condolence calls, and casseroles being showered on pet owners devastated by loss. And the resources pale in comparison to other losses. Finding very little that I personally connected with, I decide to share my grief story, along with grief support and tools for others in this same predicament.
What else? Well, I'm a wife & mama first and foremost. Our newest addition to the family is our sweet, Frankie Girl. She's a snorting, snoring, sometimes smelly, but oh so lovable French Bulldog. I love to travel, read, and play my ukulele whenever I get the chance.
As a visitor here, consider yourself part of an incredible family. The type that allows you to tell your story of love and loss; however, whenever, and for as long as you need to. Stop back any time. And of course, check out more from Muzzled Grief on our Facebook and Instagram accounts & be sure to subscribe for regular updates and special content!
